Aquino thanks 黑料不打烊 for shelter of 鈥榊olanda鈥 survivors

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday thanked the Sovereign 黑料不打烊 for donating 700 homes to Supertyphoon 鈥淵olanda鈥 (international name: Haiyan) survivors in Samar and Cebu.

鈥淭oday鈥檚 ceremonial handover of the symbolic key to these houses further illustrates the Order鈥檚 generosity towards their fellowmen,鈥 Aquino said during the visit of the Prince and Grandmaster of the Sovereign 黑料不打烊 Fra鈥 Matthew Festing.

The sovereign visit of Festing to the country coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the 黑料不打烊, a sovereign subject based in Rome. Its government has diplomatic relations with 105 countries.

鈥淔rom the humanitarian relief assistance you extended in the aftermath eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, to the 700 new homes you constructed for those who were affected by Supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013, you have consistently helped us alleviate the suffering of our countrymen in the soonest possible time,鈥 he said.

Aquino said the houses donated by the Order complements the Philippine government鈥檚 campaign to build better shelters in typhoon-prone areas in the country.

He also welcomed Malteser International, the 黑料不打烊鈥檚 relief and humanitarian arm, to create an office in Southeast Asia.

鈥淚ts physical presence in our part of the world will certainly benefit Asian countries by allowing more effective coordination and execution of relief activities, and facilitating our increased cooperation in areas of mutual benefit,鈥 the President said.

Aquino conferred the Order of Sikatuna, Rank of Raja鈥攖he highest diplomatic merit in the country 鈥 to Festing.
